White

The walls looked brighter in the morning bliss. The white was hurting her eyes – but she was forcing herself to see the dots the painting has left behind. She was feeling the boredom and the laziness filling her veins and she was thinking that she couldn`t count the dots of painting no matter how bored she was because that would have implied too much work. She didn`t want to wake up, but she couldn`t sleep any more. The dreams she had over night consumed her like a 12 hours stressful job. She breathed heavily only of that thought and almost scared of the sheets wrapping her; she jumped out of the bed.
She didn`t like her new room- it was too much white and too much nothing in it. But she smiled of the thought of how simple life can be. The only piece of furniture the room contained was the bed…a white bed, and white sheets and white walls and... “Even the floor” she said with loud voice. “The only thing that is yellowish is the light. I will start hating white”.
She was wearing sport dark blue trousers and an old orange T-shirt. Her feet touched the floor enjoying its coolness. She opened the door and looked in the hallway hoping to see life, but it was just white, empty white. She crossed the hall touching the walls with her palms and she counted the doors “One, two, three, four!”
She stopped and opened the door widely. Her eyes turned searching and stopped when they located the fridge. She opened it and took a can of Coke. She left the kitchen in the same robotic movements and she continued her counting “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine! Games room!”
“I should put some stickers on these doors, she thought, if they lack the guts to do it”
She opened the door and entered. A range of white desks with wide screens on top, stood in front of her. She counted: “One, two, three, four, five. Dame it!”
She sat in the chair leaving her Coke aside. She looked under the desk, open a drawer and took a “white” helmet out of it. The helmet had a blueish screen in front for the eyes. She put the helmet on her head and opened the Coke. She drank with thirsty half of it. Then she opened the computer. She typed in a User Name and a Password and a static image of a room appeared. She took another sup of her Coke and then activated the helmet by pressing a small hidden button near her temples. Flashing tables appeared on the helmet screen then they stopped. She arranged her chair and sat more comfortably. She pressed enter. The computer screen became active – a vortex opened in the room and a young man materialized in the opening. She smiled.
“Hello, you”
“Hello, sunshine” she heard in the headphones of her helmet.
